I met Sam Kaufman my second year in college. He was on a recruiting visit. I was given the task of showing him life as an athlete at Richmond. The coaching staff labeled him a hard worker with a big heart. He fit in immediately.
However, he had to walk on and was not given a scholarship. What does that mean? That means it was so important to him to be a part of something bigger than himself and earn it. He was given zero guarantees. He worked his ass off and earned the respect of the TEAM and the coaching staff. On top of that he earned a scholarship prior to his junior year. Who would of thought that 20 years later he’s a successful lawyer and partner at a well known firm. Nothing’s changed. His work ethic and sacrifice has put him in a position to have an amazing career and take care of his family. Still today, he’s an overachiever who enjoys the grind and day to day of his work. Thanks for being an amazing friend, teammate, and human being. I really cannot thank you enough for being a part of the @justakidfromfallriver documentary.
